This is the continuing story of Ira Pointer, as he faces another theological search, but this time for the sake of another. The journey begins when he meets a backslidden pastor named Jasper Showers, due to the friendship between their children. There are surprises and shocks when Ira learns who this pastor is, and that Pastor Showers thinks he has lost his salvation because of the mess he has made of his life and ministry. Ira comes to learn that the man is entrenched in accusations of crimes, and that he could even face the death penalty for murder. The pastor friend first rebels, but then as Pastor Pointer ministers to him, God breaks him by the truth and through providential events. In the process of the story, the doctrine of salvation comes through with great clarity, and with the help of Dink, Ira seeks to clear the broken pastor of all accusations. Plus, the introduction of ten-year-old Ira, Jr. into the plot is refreshing and challenging to the young and old alike.
