Louisa Payson Hopkins (1812-1862) was the firstborn daughter of Rev. Edward Payson, and older sister of Elizabeth Payson Prentiss (author of Stepping Heavenward). Told as a series of dialogues between a pastor and his daughter, Maria, this book contains the substance of conversations actually held between Rev. Payson and Louisa.
